Ghee from Different Animals

Ghee is derived from the milk of different animals such as cows, buffalos, sheep, and camels.

Each type of ghee contains its unique own medicinal value, as per the teachings of Ayurveda. Out of the ghee derived from different animals, Desi cow (gaay) ghee is widely used in India. In fact, ghee is commonly known as the golden elixir in India. It is derived from a special breed of cow in India called the desi cow or Bos Indicus. Milk products from this breed are also known as A2 milk products. The difference between the Indian desi cow and the other cows is the hump at the back. The purest breeds of these desi cows are in India. Many countries have cross breeds with this indigenous cow; however, the pure breed cows are found almost exclusively in India.

Preparation and Nutritional Value of Desi Ghee

Our desi ghee is prepared from milk derived from desi cows following ancient processes which are prevalent in India to this day. Ghee contains fats, saturated fats, monounsaturated fat, polyunsaturated fat, trace carbohydrates, Omega-3 fatty acids (Linoleic acid, DHA), trace proteins, vitamin A, K, E, anti-inflammatory butyric acid, palmitoleic acid and oleic acid. The procured ghee is from the Gir cows which are one of the most sort out breed amongst Desi cows.

Ghee as a Natural Beauty Product

Ghee for Skin Health and Rejuvenation

The primary uses of ghee are as a food ingredient, a form of medicine, and as a beauty product.

Vitamins A, K, E and Linoleic acid are highly sought after in the western world for their skin rejuvenation properties. They are readily available via desi ghee in an easily digestible form. For this same reason, ghee is used as a beauty product on its own or with honey, saffron, satavari or ashwagandha.

External uses of ghee have included: skin moisturization; skin cream; lip balm; dry and aging skin rejuvenation and as nail and cuticle cream.

Pure ghee is easily absorbable by each cell and can penetrate to the deepest tissues of the body. Ghee also brings out the potency of the herbs. Ghee is used as a beauty product and for medicinal purposes on account of these properties.

Internal Beauty and Nutrient Absorption

The mother cow nourishes us with this awesome product.

My belief is not to waste ghee as a beauty product or a face mask, but to eat it instead of wiping it off the face.

Nutrients will eventually reach the skin from the inside. This makes more sense to me than using ghee externally to treat the skin for beauty purposes. Radiant skin might take a tad longer to achieve than with face masks, however, as it works internally, the results will arguably be more potent and durable, and will begin to work on all systems instead of just the integumentary system (skin). Beauty and health, in and out.

Ethical and Sustainable Ghee – Ahimsa Ghee

What Is Ahimsa (Torture-Free) Ghee?

The ghee that I procure is totally ahimsa ghee, which means the cows are never tortured or killed after they stop milking. (The by-products of even old cows are valuable for farming).

Ethical Cow Rearing Practices

Cows roam free and graze on pesticide / chemical free grass and other herbs on cow farms (read the grain section to know how cow-based natural farming is better.)

Calves roam free and stay near their mothers.

Calves feed from their mothers to their satisfaction.

Calves mouths are not tied up.

Ghee is made following the traditional method of using curd cream.
